Escape from the sewer
Here's an interesting flash game I found. Escape from the Sewer. A point and click adventure puzzler. The music is cool and the game is genuinely engrossing. Check it out.

Brand new Flash game. Zombies in colour. Aarrggbb!
Aarrggbb! is a new take on the zombie killing genre of flash games. A fast-paced puzzler that has you shoot colour-coded zombies with colour-coded bullets.
Obviously red zombies are impervious to blue bullets! Unreality aside, the game is fast, fun, and immensely difficult. Also, it's brand new, so you won't have played it before.
Right now it's beta and it's buggy, if you like that sort of thing. Make sure to leave comments so the game's developer can make it more awesome.
The game is on the Gamer Stop website, right here. So go and play it already!
Lots of shooting. |
You'll be seeing this screen a lot. |

Magpies. Mischievous little bastards!
My profile picture is of a European Magpie, or Pica Pica as they're technically known. Although they have nothing to do with Pokemon. I chose the bird because out of all the common garden birds in Britain, magpies are the most badass. Just look at them with their sharp gangster suits and their loud, machine-gun calls. The way they swoop down like dramabombs to ruin everyone's day. Here are some magpies picking on a fox:
These little bastards seem to thrive on genuinely annoying other creatures around them. They are nature's trolls. And what's more than that, the little gits are downright evil. They'll mug you as soon as look at you. They build massive great nests in the biggest trees they can find and fill them with stolen trinkets. They hoard them greedily. Coins, rings, bottle caps. Bright, shiny plastic objects.
These awesome birds don't just stop there, however. They also have a taste for the chicks and eggs of other birds. That chackchack call of theirs sounds like doom to baby song thrushes. This, in my view, cements their status as the ultimate villains of the garden bird world. Wily, cunning, devious, and utterly, dreadfully wicked.
Here's another video. In this one, some bolshy little magpie flies into a garden and basically yells at a cat till it gets annoyed and leaves. What the hell does that? The cat could easily eat the magpie alive but does the little bastard care? Hell no he doesn't. It's wonder they can fly at all the way they carry those King Kong-sized solid lead balls around with them all day.

Absolutely hilarious Minecraft duo
Simon and Lewis of Yogscast fame have put down their traditional MMORPG games for while to make a whole series of hopelessly populist pandering videos about Minecraft. They have three series, so far. Luckily for us they put the videos into playlists for easy viewing. Here's the first playlist. The first video is embedded below but I suggest you watch the playlist version as there are loads of videos. And they're all in delicious HD.
What I love about these videos is how real they feel. Watching two bumbling idiots making their way through a game has never been so funny. They laugh, they joke, they fuck up, they bicker. And as Brit myself it's nice to see play-through videos featuring British accents every once in a while. The humour is very British, though, so don't bother watching if you can't stand that sort of thing.
HTML is the new HTML5!
So yesterday w3c unveiled an HTML5 logo that looks like this:
And today WHATWG announce that HTML5 is now called HTML. Are these people being intentionally obtuse or what? What a stunning way to foster confusion in an already misunderstood and under-appreciated field of web design.
Cool html5 game
I've been playing a wonderful little html5 game over the past week called Entanglement. Difficult, yet surprisingly addictive. You have to make a big stringy mess by placing tiles on a board.
I have to say that I am not very good at it at all. But such is life. It works well in Firefox and Chrome. They also have an offline version available for Chrome as part of Chrome's web store. It's free, though. Don't just sit there; go and play it!
